Huaraz is a mountain town in the Peruvian Andes at 3100metres.  A mecca for climbers and trekkers, Huaraz has access to some of the highest mountains around, including Huascaran and Alpamayo.  Here visitors spend their days watching great rooftop views while they plan their next mountain expeditions or recover from their previous one.  The most popular outdoor activities available include trekking, rock climbing, ice climbing, rafting and mountain biking.  This colourful town is rich in cafes, restaurants and bars, while a selection of nightspots will keep you bopping to the local music selection.
