Calafate - Argentina

El Calafate is a must for tourists visiting Argentina.  Located 80 km away from Los Glaciares National Park (declared a Natural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 1981), this small town lays beside the Argentino Lake, and is surrounded by a beautiful steppe landscape.
What is there to do?...A walk with crampons on the Perito Moreno Glacier is an excellent option…however, the Glacier itself  is so impressive that you’ll enjoy it simply by viewing it from  the platforms.
Another spectacular excursion is the Upsala Glacier, one it’s a boat trip that visits five different glaciers including the Upsala ( the biggest ) and the Spegazzini ( the tallest ), and includes a two hour stop at Onelli Bay.
There are also excellent half day options for guests arriving early or leaving late, for example horseback riding and 4x4 vehicle trips ….
For those who want to visit El Chalten  ( Fitz Roy Area ) and Torres del Paine ( Chile ), two of the main trekking places in the world, Calafate is a great starting point because of it’s international airport.
