Bahia - Brasil

Salvador, capital of the state of Bahia, is the land of the drum, of Capoeira and Candomble. This city was the original capital of Brazil, and is the home of Afro-Brazilian culture.  An endless coast of beaches surrounds Salvador, which lies in a bay on the northeastern coast of Brasil.
Pelourinho, the historic center, is full of colors, magic and charm.  Walking in the cobble-stone streets built by slaves centuries ago, you can visit museums, churches and colonial houses, or just enjoy the scene while you get a grasp of the local customs.  Famous for being the biggest street Party in the World, Salvador’s Carnival is the REAL Carnival.
What else to say about Salvador…. Indians, Portuguese, African… Capoeira, Samba, Carnival, Candomble, Acaraje, and many more things make bahians tell you all the time: Sorria Voce ta na Bahia…. (Smile you are in Bahia!)    And that is also why this land is called Capital da Alegria (Capital of happiness).
